In consideration with the very foundation of voluntarism, selfless service to the society and also in line with the rich Jesuit tradition, the Center for Social Outreach Programme (CSOP) was established at St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) in 2018. Initially called as Xaverian in Action (XIA), the CSOP acts as an important structure within the university that has been entrusted with the responsibility of conceptualizing and implementing sustainable community based social outreach programmes and overall administration of the Non Academic Credit Programme for its undergraduate students. Based on the ethos of Jesuit Charisms, the CSOP focuses on transforming men and women for and with other, who renders selfless service to the society, believes in services of faith and promotion of justice, leadership and developing a faith based process of decision making.
