Jesuit Community at SXUK
Jesuits working at SXUK reside at Britto house within the campus which is the Jesuit residence, named after St. John de Britto (1647-1693), a Jesuit missionary from Italy who worked in Tamil Nadu from 1673 and was beheaded at Oriyur in 1693.
The Britto house was blessed and inaugurated on April 28, 2017 when the first meeting of the Governing Board of the University was held. The first community of Jesuits (2017-18) consisted of five members: Fr. Jeyakumar, Fr. Sebastian L. Raj, Fr. J. Felix Raj, Fr. Soosai Nayagam and Fr. Arulappan Royappan.

Eucharistic Celebration
St. Xavier's University, Kolkata has a private Chapel in the Jesuit Residence (Britto House) on the second floor. The Eucharistic celebration is held every morning (Monday to Sunday) at 7.00 a.m.. Those who want to join the celebration are welcome.
The Chapel of ST. XAVIER'S UNIVERSITY, Kolkata is situated on the first floor of Britto House, the Jesuit Residence of the University. The altar is aesthetically designed;
The art work was done by Mr. Robin James and co. of Krishnagar.
- On the right side of the altar is a reproduction of the Creation of Adam, a fresco masterpiece by Michelangelo, painted c1508-1512, which adorns the ceiling of Sistine Chapel, Vatican City;
- On the left is a depiction of the City of Jerusalem with a holy view of Calvary and divine rays gracing the site of Crucifixion;
- At the centre is the Statue of the risen Lord, the Father's own rays emanating from his Son's body- the Son in whose countenance the Almighty Father shines.
- Near the entrance to the Chapel is a Crucifixion of Indian Jesus who manifests Himself as a Farmer
- The colourful stained glass windows with pictures of saints including Mother Mary and Joseph add beauty and splendour to the chapel.
