Department of Economics of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) carried out fourth field survey in Bolpur, West Bengal on January 30 and 31, 2026. The objective of the survey was to explore the status of financial literacy and awareness among people in Bolpur, Birbhum district, West Bengal. 

11 postgraduate students and 4 Ph.D research scholars participated in the survey under the tutelage of the faculty members of the department. Experts of the Economics department of Visva-Bharati extended valuable support to conduct the survey.

Students gathered primary data from 152 respondents living in the rural areas of Bolpur regarding financial behaviour and financial awareness, along with individual and household information such as monthly household expenditure, income, educational background, asset ownership, family size, and land ownership status.
