In a proud moment for St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK), Garima Bhuwalka, a postgraduate student from the Department of Mass Communication, was awarded the “PR Topper” honour by the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Kolkata Chapter on April 21, 2026.

The event was organised by the national body of PRSI in collaboration with its Kolkata Chapter. The award was presented at a felicitation ceremony held at Jain College, Kolkata.

Representing the university, Dr. Harish Kumar, Professor and Head of the Department of Mass Communication received the institutional honour on behalf of SXUK. The recognition highlights the university’s commitment to integrating professional public relations education within its academic framework.

Garima Bhuwalka earned the distinction for her exceptional results in the discipline, marking her as a promising entrant into the field of media and communication.

Addressing the gathering, PRSI Kolkata Chapter Chairman Soumyajit Mahapatra shared insights from his professional journey and emphasised the growing significance of public relations across diverse sectors.
