Dr. Anurupa Kundu is an Assistant Professor of Psychology (Arts & Social Studies) at St. Xavier's University, Kolkata and a researcher specializing in psychological well-being, compassion science, innovation in education, and positive psychology. She completed her PhD in Psychology from Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata and M.Sc. in Psychology from University of Calcutta. Her work integrates behavioural, cultural, and institutional dimensions of health and human flourishing, with expertise in psychometric scale development, statistical modelling, and survey-based research.
Dr. Kundu has led and collaborated on several interdisciplinary research initiatives, including an ICSSR-funded project on intergenerational ties and elderly well-being in the context of out-migration in West Bengal. Her recent research also explores gratitude, compassion, prosocial behaviour, and mental health interventions, alongside cross-cultural and community-based psychological research. She has published in reputed academic journals and presented her work at international conferences, including the International Congress of Psychology.
In addition to her academic contributions, Dr. Kundu has worked at the psychology–AI interface as a content developer for AI-based therapeutic and life-coaching platforms, contributing psychologically grounded frameworks for empathetic digital interventions. She is also actively engaged in doctoral mentorship, curriculum development, and community outreach, with a strong interest in public health, environmental psychology, and policy-oriented behavioural research. She has continuously guided postgraduate dissertations since 2019 and has also served as a doctoral supervisor and external committee member for PhD scholars. In addition, she has conducted workshops and faculty development programmes on research methods, psychological assessment, and mental health promotion.
