Biographical Sketch

Dr. Dipparna Jana is an academician and researcher in the field of Economics with more than a decade of teaching and research experience in higher education. She is currently serving as Assistant Professor of Economics at Xavier Law School, St. Xavier’s University Kolkata. Dr. Jana completed her Ph.D. in Economics from the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta in collaboration with Jadavpur University, with specialisation in Public Economics, Crime, Institutions, and Welfare. Her doctoral research focused on the intersections between crime, institutions, and socio-economic welfare in India. Her research contributions have appeared in reputed journals such as Economic & Political Weekly and Economic Modelling, covering themes including juvenile delinquency, crime economics, public expenditure, and institutional performance. She has also authored books on microeconomics and contributed opinion pieces and policy-orientated writings to platforms such as The Indian Express and Ideas for India. Dr. Jana is presently associated with an ICSSR-funded research project examining women in STEM and the digital divide in eastern India.
