Dr. Afkar Ahmad is a distinguished academician and legal scholar presently serving as Professor at Xavier Law School. He also serves as Professor-In-Charge of the LL.M. Programme and Editor of the Xavier Law Review. With over eighteen years of experience in teaching, research, academic administration and legal scholarship, he has been associated with several reputed institutions including IILM Law School, GD Goenka University, UPES and National University of Study and Research in Law.
Dr. Ahmad earned his Ph.D. in Law from Chanakya National Law University in 2017 and qualified the UGC-NET in Law in 2012. He completed both his LL.M. in Criminal Law and B.A. LL.B. from Aligarh Muslim University. His areas of specialization include Criminal Law, Family Law and Constitutional Law.
An accomplished researcher, Dr. Ahmad has authored and edited several books and has published extensively in reputed journals and edited volumes on contemporary issues relating to criminal justice administration, human trafficking, gender justice, constitutionalism, cyber law and family law. He has successfully supervised four doctoral scholars and numerous postgraduate dissertations.
Apart from his academic contributions, Dr. Ahmad has held several important administrative positions including Registrar-in-Charge, Chief Proctor, Programme Lead, Area Chair and Head of Legal Aid Centres at different universities. He is frequently invited as a resource person, keynote speaker, chairperson and judge at national and international conferences, seminars and faculty development programmes on emerging legal and socio-legal issues.
