Faculty Profile

Dr. Amlan Chakraborty is an Assistant Professor of Law at Xavier Law School, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, with academic and research expertise in Corporate Laws, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Laws, and Intellectual Property Rights. He previously served at reputed institutions including KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, and National Law University Odisha, Cuttack. Dr. Chakraborty completed his Ph.D. from Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar, where he was awarded the prestigious UGC-JRF Fellowship. His doctoral research focused on the intersection of Intellectual Property Rights and Competition Law. He obtained his LL.M. in Business Laws from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru. With over five years of teaching and academic experience, Dr. Chakraborty has actively contributed to legal scholarship through publications in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals. His research work explores contemporary issues in intellectual property, technology regulation, biodiversity law, and corporate governance. He has also been invited as a speaker and resource person at prestigious academic and judicial institutions, including the Odisha Judicial Academy and National Law Universities.Apart from teaching and research, Dr. Chakraborty has held important academic administrative responsibilities, including serving as the Former Centre Convenor of the Centre for Intellectual Property Studies at KIIT (Deemed to be University). His interdisciplinary approach to legal education and research reflects a strong commitment to advancing contemporary legal discourse and policy-oriented scholarship in India.
