Biographical Sketch

His engagement with law emerged from an enduring interest in Criminal Law and justice. A Gold Medalist in Law from Assam University, he subsequently pursued a two-year LL.M. in Crime and Criminology at Gauhati University. In 2018, he qualified for the UGC-NET examination in his first attempt and joined North-Eastern Hill University as a full-time doctoral researcher after securing first rank in the university’s entrance examination. His academic work is primarily centred on Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, and Labour Law, among others. In recognition of his scholarly contributions, he was awarded a Fellowship at Tashkent State University of Law under the Central Asian Legal Research Programme. Before joining St. Xavier's University as Assistant Professor of Law in January 2024 at Academic Level-10, he served at Rashtriya Raksha University, an Institution of National Importance. During this period, he delivered lectures at the Central Bureau of Investigation Training Institute and contributed to specialised Capacity Building Programmes for CBI Public Prosecutors and Fire Safety Officers. He was also associated with the Training Need Assessment Project for Gujarat Police personnel and the Criminal Law Reform Project under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. He believes that legal academia must rest upon a fourfold institutional commitment to teaching, research, education, and extension. His pedagogical approach is deeply research-oriented and inquiry-driven, treating the classroom not merely as a space for transmitting established doctrine, but as a forum for intellectual engagement with unresolved legal and social questions. Beyond formal teaching, his academic work reflects a continued commitment to institutional development, professional training, and public-oriented legal engagement. He has presented papers at numerous national and international conferences, and has participated extensively in professional capacity-building initiatives.
