Dr. Rakesh Kumar Singh is an Associate Professor at Xavier Law School, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata. He has held several distinguished academic and administrative positions, including Founder Associate Dean at The Neotia University, Associate Dean and Head at Adamas University, Founder Head of Institution at Amity Law School, Kolkata, and Principal of Haldia Law College.
He earned his Ph.D. in Corporate Law from the University of Calcutta and completed his LL.B. and LL.M. in Business Laws from the same institution after graduating with B.Com. (Hons.). Before entering academia, he practised as an Advocate before the Alipore Judges’ and Sessions Court and the High Court at Calcutta.
Dr. Singh is a prolific author with 26 published books in areas such as Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Commercial Law, Jurisprudence, Media Law, Insurance Law, Intellectual Property Rights, and Legal Research. His notable works include Indian Constitutional Law: The New Challenges, Supreme Court on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Digest on POCSO Act, 2012, and Deciphering The New Criminal Laws In India.
He serves on the National Editorial Committee of reputed law journals such as Crimes and Current Civil Cases. He has published widely in leading journals, presented papers at national seminars, and delivered keynote addresses at workshops, seminars, panel discussions, and television programmes. He has also organised International Refresher Courses for faculty members and judged several Moot Court Competitions.
Recognised for his contributions to legal education, Dr. Singh has been felicitated by organisations including ArdorComm Media and LinkedIn. His alma mater, National High School, Kolkata, honoured him with the “Proud NHS-ian of the School” award. His academic interests include International Trade Law, Commercial Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, and Jurisprudence.
