Biographical Sketch

Dr. Reshmi Naskar is an eminent academician, researcher, and media educator currently serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Mass Communication at St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata. She obtained her Ph.D. from Visva-Bharati University and has more than two decades of teaching, research, and academic leadership experience in the field of Media and Communication Studies.

Over the years, she has contributed significantly to media education through her involvement in undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes. As a committed research supervisor, she has successfully guided three doctoral scholars who have been awarded Ph.D. degrees under her supervision. 

Dr. Naskar’s areas of expertise include Digital Media, Development Communication, Communication Theories, Media Research, and Journalism Studies. She has actively encouraged critical thinking, analytical engagement, and creative exploration among students and young researchers. Her scholarly work is reflected in  research papers published in reputed books and journals addressing contemporary issues related to media, communication, and society. She has participated as an invited speaker, delivering lectures and keynote addresses at a range of seminars, conferences, workshops, and academic forums conducted by various universities and educational institutions.

In addition to her academic and research responsibilities, Dr. Naskar has considerable experience in academic administration, having served as the former Head of the Department of Mass Communication at St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata. She has contributed to curriculum development, academic governance, and institutional initiatives. She has also served as an external expert, examiner, and resource person for several universities and higher educational institutions across West Bengal, contributing meaningfully to the advancement of media education and higher studies in the region.
