Biographical Sketch

I was born and brought up in a middle-class joint family and learned from an early age the importance of sharing, togetherness, and emotional support. Living in a joint family taught me that sharing responsibilities and emotions helps individuals grow and stay mentally strong and balanced. 

After submitting my thesis in 2018, I accepted the offer from Amity University, Chhattisgarh. However, living alone away from my family for nearly 2 years had strengthened my desire to return to West Bengal so that I can devote more time to my family. So, when I got the opportunity to work in St. Xavier's University, Kolkata, I did not think twice and joined this esteemed University in october, 2020. 

Academically, I completed my graduation and post-graduation in Economics before pursuing an MBA in Marketing.  Although I began my professional career in industry in 2003, my passion eventually drew me towards academics. Over the last twenty two years of teaching, I have taught different courses of Economics and Marketing at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in reputed institutions such as Management Institute of Durgapur, NIFT Kolkata, Aliah University, NSHM Knowledge Campus, Durgapur, Amity University, Chhattisgarh and have been working in St. Xavier's University, Kolkata for nearrly 6 years. Along with teaching, I have also handled administrative responsibilities as Head of the Department, mentored students, and briefly served as the Proctor of the university.

Teaching has always been a part of my family environment, and academic values were instilled in me from childhood. Even after two decades in academics, I continue to enjoy teaching immensely. After earning my Ph.D degree, I have become more focused on research and have published six research papers and two book chapters till date.

Teaching Experience

  • Worked as a Full-Time Faculty Member in the Department of Business Administration in Management Institute of Durgapur (MID) (www.mid.rahul.ac.in) for more than ten years. Joined this institute on 3rd August, 2004 as a Lecturer and was promoted to the post of Senior Lecturer in August, 2007 and to the post of “Assistant Professor I” in 2011. I was designated as Head of the Department on 1st August, 2011 and resigned from the service in that capacity on 7th August, 2014.
  • Worked as a Guest Faculty in the Department of Management and Business Administration, Aliah University, New Town, Kolkata from 7thJuly, 2015 to 31st July, 2017
  • Worked as a Senior Guest Faculty in National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kolkata from November, 2015 to 31st July, 2017. I took classes of Managerial Economics, Entrepreneurship, Retail and Brand Management, Creative Advertising and Media Planning, Introduction to Advertising in different departments like Fashion Management (PG Programme), Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, and Textile Design.
  • Worked as “Assistant Professor II” in the Faculty of Management Studies, NSHM Knowledge Campus, Durgapur from 01/08/2017 to 10/04/2018.

Administrative Experience

  • Acted as Officer-In-Charge (OIC) for the semester examination conducted by West Bengal University of technology (WBUT). I had to take the total responsibility of conducting the examinations of the institute.
  • Acted as University Station Supervisor (USS) for the even semester examinations, 2008 conducted by West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT).
  • Acted as Head of the Department in the Department of Business Administration in Management Institute of Durgapur (MID) for more than three years.
