Dr. Utpal Pore is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Statistics at St. Xavier's University, Kolkata under the Faculty of Science. He completed his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Pondicherry University in 2019. He obtained his M.Sc. in Pure Mathematics from Jadavpur University and completed his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics from the same university, with Statistics and Computer Science as subsidiary subjects.
Dr. Pore has qualified the Joint CSIR-UGC NET for Lectureship in Mathematical Sciences as well as GATE. He received the INSPIRE Scholarship during his B.Sc. and M.Sc. studies and was later awarded the prestigious INSPIRE Fellowship by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, during his Ph.D. programme. In 2019, he was also selected as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Tirupati.
His areas of specialization include Number Theory, Special Functions, Ramanujan’s Notebooks, q-series, Partition Theory, and Modular Forms. Dr. Pore has published several research papers in reputed peer-reviewed international journals, particularly in the areas of partition theory and modular forms.
Dr. Pore has been serving at St. Xavier's University, Kolkata since July 2019, where he has been actively involved in teaching, curriculum development, academic administration and student mentoring. Before joining the university, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Salesian College from July 2018 to June 2019.
