Dr. Mononita Kundu Das is working as Professor of Law at St Xavier’s University, Kolkata. She is also the Coordinator of Ph.D. Programs of the University. She has been the Director, Research Development Cell,RDC (2022-2026) and Presiding Officer of Internal Complaints Committee,ICC (2023-2026) of the University.
Dr.Das holds Ph.D. Degree in Law from National Law University Jodhpur(2006). She has received LL.M. Degree from University of North Bengal with distinction and Ist class 2nd Medal in LL.M.(2000). She has been conferred with the prestigious award of Distinguished Woman Researcher in Environmental Law for the contribution and achievement in the discipline of Law(2026), by Venus International Foundation, Chennai.
Dr. Das has a teaching experience of 23 years in Law at various National Level Institutions, noteworthy being, National Law University Jodhpur and Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie.
Dr. Das has 49 publications, as Journal Articles, Book Chapters, Books and Conference proceedings both at the National and International level. She has participated at several Conferences, Seminars and Workshops both in India and abroad, has been invited as a Guest Speaker, Panellist, Session Chair, and Resource person at Conferences, Seminars and Workshops. Her areas of specialisation includes Environmental Law, Constitutional Law, Public Policy and Climate Change. She has completed Executive Education Course on Climate Change from London School of Economics, UK(2019). She has completed course on Public Leadership Credential(Online) from Harvard Kennedy School of Government, USA(2020, 2021, 2022). She holds a Professional Membership of Environmental Peace Building Association, USA.
Dr.Das has completed a Research Project funded by ICSSR New Delhi, Capacity Building Programme for young faculty in Social Sciences, (2023), Project Fund sanctioned 8 Lakhs.
