Biographical Sketch

Mr. Ratul Das is an Assistant Professor of Law at Xavier Law School, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, and a Research Scholar at The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata. Mr. Das completed his B.A.LL.B. (Honours) from University of Calcutta in the year 2012. Thereafter, he passed LL.M. from the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences in the year 2015. He worked as a Research Assistant from 2014 through 2017 in a West Bengal Judicial Academy funded project entitled “A Study on Adoption in West Bengal under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act”. He has also been an editor in several academic journals and assisted Justice Asok Kumar Ganguly in authoring the Third Edition of Justice A.M. Bhattacharjee’s classic text, “Hindu Law and the Constitution” (Eastern Law House). His current teaching and research interests span across constitutional law, family law, sexuality and gender, popular culture and sports, and has authored several articles in academic journals and popular media. He has also worked as a translator with the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning. Mr. Das has a keen interest in the arena of performing arts such as cinema and theatre, and is a founding member and Vice-President of Punorjonmo Theatre Group.
