Biographical Sketch

Dr. Sayantan Bandhu Majumder is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at St. Xavier's University, Kolkata. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Calcutta, where his doctoral research focused on capital flows in the post-reform Indian economy. His academic interests span open economy macroeconomics, financial markets, institutional economics, and applied econometrics.

Dr. Majumder has more than a decade of teaching and research experience, having previously served at Sambhu Nath College before joining St. Xavier’s University in 2018. He teaches macroeconomics, econometrics, and mathematical economics courses at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.

His research contributions have been published in several reputed national and international journals, including Global Business Review, Journal of Economic Studies, International Economic Journal, Economics of Transition and Institutional Change, Indian Growth and Development Review, Global Economy Journal, and Macroeconomics and Finance in Emerging Market Economies. His work primarily examines capital flows, financial volatility, public debt, institutional quality, and emerging market macroeconomic dynamics.

Dr. Majumder has organised national and international conferences and workshops. He has also supervised doctoral scholars and postgraduate dissertations and has undertaken important academic and administrative responsibilities, including serving as Head of the Department at St. Xavier’s University.
