Biographical Sketch

Dr. Soma Sur is a Professor and Former Dean of Xavier Business School, St.  Xavier’s University, Kolkata and has an experience of above 33 years in Post Graduate Management teachingShe is presently the Hony. Director of Father Lafont Centre for Excellence in Research and Innovation, and the Coordinator of PhD Programmes of the University. Before serving the university from its inception in 2017, she has worked in several B-Schools and State Universities of West Bengal. 

She is a  Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Management, MBA in Marketing, B.Sc in Physics (Hons)., and a Diploma in Systems Management. She received a National Scholarship Merit Certificate from the Ministry of Education, GOI and is a UGC Research Fellow qualifying JRF-NET in Marketing.  

She has published widely in national and international indexed and peer-reviewed journals and has edited books to her creditShe has presented papers in various national and international conferences and has won several Best Paper awards. She has delivered invited talks in Loyola Marymount University, Los Angles, USA, Jiatong University, Bejing, China, and Keio University, Japan. 

She has guided several PhD Scholars, and nine of whom have already been awarded Doctoral Degree.

She has a wide experience as a Coordinator and Resource Person in different Management Development Programs of leading public and private organizations. like, National Institute of Smart Governance, Coal India Ltd., ONGC, GRSE, Vivo, Peerless. She also has a rich experience of being an Expert in various Consultancy Projects in organizations, like NTPC, National Highway Authority, Calcutta Municipal Corporation, sponsored by World Bank, Asian Development Bank and New Town Kolkata Green Smart City Corporation Limited.
