Tanmay Samanta is an academic, media professional, and digital content creator. He brings a rich blend of practical and theoretical knowledge to his work. His professional journey spans 17 years, encompassing eight years in the fast-paced media industry and nine years in higher education.
Tanmay holds two postgraduate degrees, specializing in Journalism & Mass Communication and Bengali. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. in Mass Communication from Parul University, Gujarat. He is a highly active researcher. He has presented numerous papers at both national and international conferences. A notable highlight includes presenting his scholarly work at the prestigious IAMCR conference in Singapore in 2025. Additionally, he received the Best Paper Presentation award at the Second Global Summit on Education (GSE) in 2019.
Beyond academia, Tanmay is an accomplished writer and visual storyteller. He is the author of the Bengali poetry collection Jharapatar Sanglap and serves as a regular columnist for several popular daily newspapers. Furthermore, Tanmay is the founder and editor of the Bengali digital news portal, Newsoffbeat.com.
His foundational media training includes a Film Appreciation course from Chalachittra Sataborsho Bhaban (Govt. of West Bengal). He also holds a Media Studies certificate from the National Institute of Film and Television (NIFT) and a Diploma in Computer Applications from the Sterlite Training Institute.
