Inaugural e-Conference

Growth and development of any country, by and large, lies in the entrepreneurial ability of its citizens and this becomes more imperative in a country like India where entrepreneurs are now recognized as one of the most important contributors to economic growth. It is needless to mention that the growing statistics favouring entrepreneurship strength in the business world is boosting the morale of Indian Entrepreneurs.

Rooted in and inspired by the Ignatian charism of forming men and women for others, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, as a centre of Excellence, strives to promote a society based on love, freedom, liberty, justice, equality and fraternity. 

A huge proportion of the students of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata are from Business families and with strong business acumen and mind-set, and many of them are highly potential entrepreneurs. A large proportion of the Alumni have already joined their family business or have started their own. Therefore, this is extremely important to equip the budding entrepreneurs with strategies behind a robust & successful Business Plan.

In this backdrop, Centre for Incubation, Consultancy & Entrepreneurship (CICE) of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata is conducting an activity under the theme ‘Seed-Biz’- Orientation Programme on Business Planning. The program was inaugurated on 27th April on University Zoom platform and was LIVE on St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata facebook page.

The Inaugural Conference  emphasized on importance of strong business planning, robust revenue model, uniqueness of business ideas, and strategies behind that. The conference was attended by huge number of Budding & Aspiring Entrepreneurs, Alumni, Business Leaders & Experts, Academicians to experience and interact.The Inaugural Conference was followed by submission of business plans by budding entrepreneurs.

The eConference started with kind blessings and Welcome Address by Rev. Fr. Dr. J. Felix Raj, S.J., Vice-Chancellor, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata. Father VC has congratulated CICE for this programme. He has mentioned Xaverian Entrepreneurs and the difference between managers and entrepreneurs.  Chief Guest Mr. Prabhat K Bezboruah, Chairman, Tea Board India, emphasized on importance of trust in business, technology upgradation, and deciding the aim of entrepreneurship as growth should not be the only goal in today’s context. Mr. Sitanath Mukherjee, Asst. Director, MSME DI Kolkata highlighted promising products/ service sectors which can sustain for another 8-10 years. He mentioned several Govt. schemes. He also mentions YUKTI 2.0. The programme was highly enriched by insights from all the eminent speakers.
