New Town/Kolkata (14 March 2026): The MSW, Sem-IV students of SXUK visited Development Research Communication and Services Centre (DRCSC) office, training center and fields of intervention in Magra, Hoogly district, West Bengal today 14 March 2026 as a part of their extended Fieldwork-cum- Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funded Community Development Project orientation programme. DRCSC focuses in improving food and livelihood security of the rural poor through scientific management of natural resources and community based initiatives on the basis of principles and actions, that are environment friendly, economically appropriate, socially just and developed by mutual cooperation.

During the visit, the staff of DRCSC Magra office gave an orientaiton about the organisation – its vision, mission, aims, objectives, thrust areas and activities in the morning and accompanied the students and faculty to field sites where ITC MSK Livelihood Project is implemented. The project has four pillars of 1) knowlege empowerment, 2) natural resource management, 3) livelihoods diversification and 4) institutional support to ensure livelihoods enhancement of the community people. The students and staff interacted also with the community members who have collaborators with the project and working on integrated farming and livelihoods practices.

In all 23 students accompanied by all five memebrs of the faculty of the Department of Social Work, SXUK visited DRCSC.
