Biographical Sketch

Dr. Jhilli Das (Tewary) is an academician and psychologist currently serving as Assistant Professor and the Head of the Department of Psychology at St. Xavier's University, Kolkata. She has been the Internship coordinator of the Department helping students of UG & PG getting Internship Opportunities in various areas based on their skills and interests. 

She had completed her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Calcutta in 2017 with the University Research Fellowship and is qualified in both UGC-NET and WBSET (SLET). She is also an RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) registered professional, with serious interests and training in art therapy

Dr. Tewary has extensive teaching experience spanning over two decades. She began her academic career as a guest lecturer at institutions such as Jogamaya Devi College, University College of Science and Technology (Rajabazar), and South Calcutta Girls’ College, before joining academia full-time in 2018. Prior to her current role, she served as Assistant Professor and later Head of the Department of Psychology at Adamas University. 

Her areas of specialization include Abnormal Psychology, with research interests in Social Psychology, Positive Psychology, spiritual well-being, and mental health. She has contributed actively to research through publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, including recent work on “Trump”‑ng to the Capitol: Brainwashing through Social Media and studies exploring happiness, resilience, and death anxiety among college students

Before joining St. Xavier’s University Kolkata, Dr. Tewary has been deeply engaged in student counselling, mental health advocacy, and community outreach. She has participated in social service initiatives and has contributed to scientific committees of professional psychological associations. Her commitment to promoting psychological well-being among students and advancing the discipline through teaching, research, and service reflects her dedication to the field of psychology.
