Dr. Paramita Barman Sen is Assistant Professor of Economics under the Faculty of Commerce and Management at St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata. She graduated from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata with B.Sc. Economics (Hons.). She holds Master's degree in Economics from the Centre for International Trade and Development (CITD), School of International Studies (SIS), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi and M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees in Economics from the University of Calcutta. Her M.Phil dissertation was on the impact of education and mass media exposure on tuberculosis related awareness and stigma among adults across different geographical regions of India. Her Ph.D. thesis explored the pathways to treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis patients in India. She has provided research assistance to a National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) funded project of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, titled “Access to Medicine and Diagnostics in Government Hospitals, West Bengal”. She has remained a UGC-JRF scholar in Economics with the University of Calcutta. She has more than ten years of experience in teaching and publications in peer-reviewed, Scopus-indexed and ABDC journals to her credit. Her research interest lies in economics of social sector.
